19 years ago a couple thought they had a bouncing baby girl and they named the child Kristel. However, some two years later, they were shocked to find out that their daughter Kristel, is actually  a son suffering some sort of a birth defect. Despite the condition, they brought their child as a girl until highschool when the child would hit puberty.

Kristel Lumabao is now 19 years old and taking up criminology in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, shared in an interview that upon hitting puberty, he grew a mustache instead of monthly menstrual periods. Kristel also developed a deeper voice and masculine body features.

Kristel's condition is called Hypospadias, a birth defect in males in which the tube that carries urine from the bladder called urethra is not located at the tip of the male organ.

Apparently, patients with hypospadias abnormally develops their urethra during weeks 8 - 14 of pregnancy. This often causes the urethral opening to form anywhere in the area covering from just below the end of the male organ to the scrotum giving the impression of a female organ.

So how did this happen? Well, according to doctors, hypospadias is often caused by the mother having illness during pregnancy. So if you are planning having a child, be sure of your health and be extra careful during those fragile pregnancy period.
